So you know you want to be your own boss and you have a great idea – but you’re just not sure how to bring it to life?
The truth is that starting your own business is a whole different ballgame to being full-time employed and you’re about to step onto a very steep learning curve. That’s not to say that you can’t, and won’t, use your many years of experience, but there are also new skills and ways of working that you’ll need to get to grips with.
You’ll need to swallow your ego and ask for help when you need it, being honest about your knowledge gaps and looking for ways to fill the gaps, whether through formal training and qualifications, coaching and mentoring, or self-study.
Discover the 5Ls model to help you think more broadly about success
In my experience - from my own life and from working with clients over the years - there are five key areas in our lives that need to be balanced in order for us to thrive and live a truly successful life in a more whole and holistic sense: LIVE - Wellness & Wellbeing; LOVE - Relationships & Romance; LEARN - Development & Growth; LEAD - Career & Impact; and LAUGH - Fun & Spontaneity.
